Describe of district

The district is situated in the north - western part of Žilina region. The north – south transport route represented by the I/11 (E75) road and an international railway connecting the centre of Žilina region with the Czech Republic and Poland crosses it.

Manufacture of machines and equipment (rolling bearings in particular) has major representation in the district as its tradition is more than 50 years long. More than 80% employees working in industry are employed in engineering industry.

Employment has decreased by 3.4% year-on-year, which is directly reflected in the growth of persons seeking jobs by 4.9%. The region experiences natural increase of population.

Besides good accessibility there are also other strengths of the region as a good network of schools and qualified labour.
